AKFF Blog gets the scoop from the owner of Sinners & Saints bakery, new to Venice!
Sinners & Saints bakery opened in August this year which combines the concept of an assortment of traditional desserts along with more health oriented and gluten free desserts, therefore the name, Sinners & Saints, located at 2547 Lincoln Blvd. between Washington and Venice Blvds.
The owner, Elisa Testone worked for a healthy food company and was always looking for a source for healthy desserts that tasted good, a big challenge. She was joking with her boss one day that she could do it better herself. her boss thought it was a great idea and encouraged her tomove forward with the idea. She operated a wholesale business for 3 years and hired Chef Dustin Hodges.
She started searching for a location and wanted to focus on Venice, a place with a real sense of community where people support their community and where healthy eating is inteegrated with the culture here. Elisa moved to the US 15 years ago from her native Switzerland for an internship and loved the change to the warm and sunny Southern California weather and casual beach lifestyle.
While her store location on Lincoln is set back from the other stores the flourless chocolate brings in a steady stream of customers in. The cake is available in both the traditional, ie Sinners version and the gluten free, Saints version- this is the most popular dessert at S&S!
Come on in and try it when the bakery is open on Wednesday thru Sunday from 12 noon to 6 pm. Call 310.970.2332 to make an appointment on Monday and Tuesday for specialty cakes and other desserts.
