Whole Foods Venice Presents: Michelle Oppenheimer 5:30 – 8:30 pm

Our featured Artist for the December 2011 Venice Art Crawl is Michelle Oppenheimer, mixed media artist from Venice. Michelle and her art will be at the Whole Foods Venice on Thursday night, December 15 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Enjoy the art while dining on appetizers from Whole Foods and music from Dyan Kane.

Over the past 10 years, Michelle Oppenheimer has become well known for composing paintings that capture the imaginative and organic possibilities of abstract watercolor. Her art has been heralded for its calming and therapeutic nature: a true reflection of the artist herself. Beautiful and transformative in her focused use of the medium, patrons enjoy the healing power that an original painting or print brings into their space. Michelle’s skilled blending of color and texture has earned her national acclaim. See Michelle’s Art.

Sunny Bak Studio Presents: NOT an ARTIST 6 – 10pm
Someone along the way told you that shouldn’t or couldn’t be an artist. You got older, serious, more self-conscious and stopped doing stuff you thought you sucked at or that didn’t serve a functional purpose. You forgot how to play. Art became objects that others created and you observed. Now you are definitely not an artist and that is the lie. Everyone is an artist. Art is for everybody.  The space will be alive with projections and grown-ups coloring to ambient soundscapes. Also showing: The Gorillas and David Rowan Johnson’s skateboard chair.
