Venice Art Block: Venice Artists Open Studio This Sunday, May 15, 2016!

Venice ArtBlock 2016Venice Artblock is a Venice Artists’ Free Open Studio Tour run by local artists! Its 6th event offers a unique opportunity to meet Venice Artists and view their art in a studio environment – open to the public!

The AKFF Team has visited the Artblock every time since it’s start and highly recommends it as a must attend event! Soak in the vast array of art, chat with the artists and hang out with your friends this Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 11am – 6pm. We recommend starting at The Distillery, 361 Vernon Ave., the heart of the Artblock; it’s a large building housing numerous artist studios.

This year there are over 70 venues, inviting the public to share a sense of place and community as they guide themselves along the route on the streets and alleys of Venice.  Winding through murals, street art, live art and chalk mandalas, there is something for art lovers of all ages, including critically acclaimed exhibitions and the work of noted contemporary artists and activities.

You’re encouraged to walk or ride the route on bikes; however, shuttle buses are available for transport to all locations on the route.

Interview with the infamous Pamela Des Barres, known as Queen of  the Groupies at the Unurban Cafe in Santa Monica by Gerry Fialka. According to Fialka, “Pamela Des Barres has many other facets, fascinations and unique talents. Known mostly for her heady dalliances and friendships with classic rock’s elite dandies in the 60s and 70s, she presciently kept copious diaries about those madcap revolutionary days and nights.” She wrote 4 books, shared her history on numerous TV and radio shows, including Oprah and Larry King. This wild card event is sure to hit the jackpot! Need we say more? 4-6pm, 3301 Pico Bl, Santa Monica 90405.
