Wow! There were some great events that were really fun this past weekend that the AKFF Blog Crew covered! The Montana Ave. Holiday Stroll was the most outstanding and rockin’ event!
The Abbot Kinney First Friday Blog Crew went to the Montana Ave. Holiday Stroll to start off the weekend. There was a huge crowd, plentiful of food and drinks from the local businesses served up with some holiday cheer such as Ten Women Gallery, Engel & Volkers Real Estate, Semi-Precious and more… plus gift bags- we liked the one from Ouidad with hair products and a gift certificate, enjoyed listening to live music on several street corners, especially the Smoking Cobras playing surf music, rockabilly and bluesy tunes!
At one point during the stroll, I stepped into a few shops, asking to use their bathroom and to my dismay was turned down by them (plus there were no public ones in sight)… it all changed when I stepped into Sechoir salon, where the owner Nava was very welcoming, granted request right away and poured champagne for me and my friends later. Cory, one of the stylists, gave us gift certificates and we were invited to the salon’s party, which we want to let our readers know about! Here’s the scoop:
Thursday, December 13, 5-9pm
1121 Montana Ave. Santa Monica, 90403
Gift Bags for first 30 guests to arrive! 25% off Aveda products with your canned good donations! Live Music, Complimentary drinks will be served and more!
Later that night we checked out First Fridays and enjoyed shopping at Ananda and Skylark; my friend and I loved this red clutch and black velvet shorts at Skylark (hey Santa, are you listening?) We also checked out the beautiful handmade jewelry with semi-precious stones from Teofila’s by Maria Rose at Euphoria Salon and chatted with Mylie, who is always a great hostess while we enjoyed drinks and sweets.
The AKFF Blog Crew also checked out the Abbot Kinney Holiday Stroll, which was a bit disappointing with few events- even the shop owners asked, where are the carolers? With that being said, The Harlot salon was the place to be! They know how to throw a great event and everyone on the boulevard eventually ended up there. Walking down a beautiful tree lit path with snow softly blowing with champagne and St. Germaine served by Anna, a wonderful bartender and the hot, shirtless dudes pouring refills and serving cupcakes with the Harlot logo – we were impressed!
There was also an amazing opera singer and dance duo plus owner Marylle Kokin doing live hair styling on models and a dj later- what fun! Ok, Abbot Kinney shops- here’s a tip- do this event on First Friday next year!
