Art + Food = Life!  It’s all in Venice too! This week brings us the 10th Anniversary of the Other Venice Film Festival and the First Venice Art Block! Plus, Mark your calendar for these back to back events in November: Venice Arts 20th Anniversary + Taste of Venice (previously Taste of Abbot Kinney)!

The Other Venice Film Festival is all about films that embody the spirit of Venice and it’s celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary this year!  
The OVFF is from October 11 -13 this year and takes place at several venues and will screen full-length, short, doc, experimental, music video, youth films and animated works, along with parties and awards presentations. Friday night, October 11 is the Premiere screening of the romantic comedy, “The Republic of Two” held at Killer Shrimp, 4211 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey and also includes appetizers and drinks in this ocean front view setting. Tickets are $25 and ONLY available online for purchase for the premiere. Saturday night, October 12 brings screening s to the Venice Love Shack, located at 2121 Lincoln Blvd Venice (near Venice Blvd.) while Sunday night, October 13 brings the Abbot Awards, free to all in attendance, at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Boulevard Venice. Tickets are $10  per screening block on both Saturday and Sunday and can be purchased at the event or online. See the OVFF website for details. Venice musician, Chris Hawley will play at the OVFF on Saturday at 3pm.
Sunday October 13 also brings the Venice Art Block,  a completely new art event with over 50 artist studio openings across Venice, with a concentration of studios between Sunset and Vernon near 4th at this free event.  A selection of artist studios that the AKFF Blog recommends visiting: Helen Garber, Kenny Harris, Gary Palmer, Jules Muck, Larry Albright, Juan Carlos Hernandez, Francisco Letelier and Jean Edelstein.  A Taste of Venice takes place on Sunday  November 3 from 3 – 6:30pm  at the Electric Lodge in Venice, a block behind Abbot Kinney
The 5th Annual Taste of Venice is a unique food and wine event that celebrates the amazing culinary talent that has made Venice a top destination for foodies and supports local charity Inside Out Community Arts, helping underserved youth.
