Silent Art Auction, Family Fun Day and Community Celebration hosted by and held at Google Los Angeles – May 19
Google becomes an art gallery as it opens its Frank Gehry-designed Los Angeles headquarters for a silent art auction featuring hundreds of paintings, photographs and sculpture by renowned Southern California artists including Ed Ruscha, Andy Moses, Kelly Berg, Kenny Harris, Ned Evans and Gregg Chadwick. The relocated Family Fun Day will feature games, music and family-friendly activities outside the Google Los Angeles headquarters in Venice. A community celebration featuring food trucks, music and live performances will enliven the closed-off block behind Google on Hampton Drive between Sunset Ave. and Rose Ave.
Artist Studio Tour: “Venture into Venice” Artist Studio Tour – May 19
See where art is created as established and emerging artists open their Westside studios for a rare meet and greet. This year’s studio tours highlight never-before-seen studios east of Lincoln Ave. and west of Abbot Kinney Blvd., including a special exhibit with Jacob Kassay and studio stops at Guy Webster, Pentti Monkkonen and Liz Kraft. Your $50 donation to Venice Family Clinic grants exclusive access to participating artists’ studios, gallery exhibits, live art performances and special food and beverage offers.
The 2013 Venice Art Walk & Auctions proudly celebrates the achievements of two signature artists: Larry Bell and John Van Hamersveld.
Larry Bell is a contemporary American artist and sculptor whose 40 years of work can be found in the collections of many of the world’s top art aficionados, public spaces, major museums and cultural institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; Whitney Museum of American Art; and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. John Van Hamersveld is a renowned graphic designer, illustrator and artist perhaps best known for creating the brilliant and instantly iconic image for “The Endless Summer,” the seminal 1966 surf movie by Bruce Brown. As signature artist, Van Hamersveld created the graphic imagery and logo for the 2013 Venice Art Walk & Auctions.
