You might not know that this Food Truck Hot Spot even exists! It’s one of the best kept secrets in Santa Monica and is open Monday through Friday.
What’s this hot spot called? Food Truck Alley. It’s a one long block in the area of Santa Monica that’s known as Mid City and is far away from the Promenade, beach and other tourist areas. It’s located in a business area, just look for the tall buildings; it’s also close to Santa Monica College Art and Media Center and KCRW radio station. It’s on Pennsylvania Avenue between 26th and Stewart and is a five-minute walk from the Metro Expo line stop at Bergamot Station.

I checked out this location again recently, keeping in mind it’s been on this website in previous articles, to see how it’s going. There were about 15 to 20 food trucks lined up as well as a coffee cart bike I went around lunch time so it was maybe noon. there were a bunch of people sitting on the curb eating just like First Fridays.
I briefly chatted with Jeff, from The Caffeinated Cloud, who is very friendly and makes a nice, strong cold brew and other coffee selections and got the scoop on it all. It’s interesting because his car is a sort of tricycle with a cart in front that he peddles to all locations. Now that takes some work and he makes a great cuppa joe. He told me that the trucks line up super early and serve between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
I also tried the Skewers Land Mediterranean truck and had a wonderful falafel wrap it’s some of the best falafel I’ve had! Generously sized with fresh veggies in it plus side salad andolives. It was really filling and delish!
It’s a great option for breakfast brunch or lunch, especially in this area of Santa Monica that is a bit of a restaurant desert. It’s really convenient whether you’re working in the area, going to school or hop off of the Metro and exploring the area looking for some sustenance.
