7 Dudley Cinema presents this evening of experimental cinema, starting at 7 p.m. with shorts from prominent San Francisco filmmakers, free admission.Director Natasha Maidoff brings to life the dilemma facing a creative mind trapped in a pragmatic world in the 12-minute short film The Orange Orange that will be screened at 8 pm, plus two more shorts. Drawing from her background in vaudeville and mime, Maidoff sets modern fables in motion with her sensual, cinematic shorts.  Local musician Brad Kay is going to be on piano when you first arrive, plus there will be some drinks and refreshments. 681 Venice Blvd. Free

First Friday Jazz Series at Joe’s Restaurant  with John Beasley and Dwight Trible Duality Release Event
Joe’s Restaurant, is pleased to present a monthly jazz series on First Friday. The debut event features Venice based, but internationally revered keys player John Beasley, along with virtuosic vocalist Dwight Trible celebrating the release of their new album Duality. The rhythm section on the gig will be Trevor Ware on bass and Dexter Story on drums.
