Culver City Eats Drinks & Happy Hour Hotspots

Culver City Eats Drinks & Happy Hour Hotspots

culver hotel happy hour cocktail

Since moving the AKFF office to Culver City this year, it’s been a wonderful discovery of places to eat drink be merry, hangout and work too! Here’s a slice of Culver City you’ll want to check out!

Starting on Culver Bl. across from our office at CulverWorks is the historic Culver Hotel, the famous flatiron building that housed the Munchkins during the filming of the Wizard of Oz. These days it’s known for its happy hours inside the beautiful building and an expansive area with nice seating and the patio in the back which is more private but also has a view of the famous lion fountain and people walking by.

culver hotel ahi tuna or salmonThe cocktails are tasty and really pack a punch so be careful there’s also specials on wine and beer. When it comes to appetizers the ahi was really amazing that had a great sauce on it and light fluffy nachos to scoop it up. It’s a good one to share along with the pot of fries covered in Parmesan that’s a real crowd-pleaser. We also tried the fresh green beans which were good but the sauce was not really that great it was a little too sweet. The service there is excellent and it’s a great spot to bring your out-of-town friends you’re definitely impressed them in this unique spot.

Culver CIty CulverWorks CoworkingSince the AKFF office was mentioned, it’s located at CulverWorks, the coworking spot in Culver City. It’s got a great community of friendly people on a second floor where creatives, startups and entertainment professionals work in a comfortable, casual setting. It’s great for those that want to escape the corporate cookie cutter coworking spaces that abound. You can easily walk to restaurants nightlife and even the Farmers Market.

Culver CIty Farmers Market-tomatoesThe Culver City Farmers Market every Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. It’s great to be able to take a break from work go buy some fresh veggies and fruits maybe even a slice of pie and of course do some sampling.

Culver CIty Farmers Market-Piety PiesSampling the pumpkin pie and the pear pie which was a  tasty surprise from Piety. There’s a great selection of organic produce there two and food stands.

Make sure to check out the shops bars and restaurants around the corner on Main St. More on this little gem of the street in a future post.

Arcana Books back palm treeJust a short drive away is another historic building the Helms on Washington Bl. near National – there is slew of restaurants, bars  and shops, mainly furniture related and even a new book store called Arcana.

It’s got art books many of them signed originals; it’s nice to see a bookstore these days. It was easy to spend time looking at art books with the likes of Andy Warhol, David Hockney (check out he gigantic book from Taschen on display) and a slew of others.

Lukshon Culver City restaurant small plateWhen it comes to restaurants, Lukshon is where we went to recently with out of town  foodie friends who really loved this place. It specializes in small plates; you order all the dishes you want first and the chef decides the order to bring them in which worked out just fine. We loved the Hawaiian butterfish to the amazing beef as well as sweet potatoes and the black rice and was spicy and flavorful. Every dish was simply delectable!

lukshon drinksThe service was exceptional. This is on the pricier side so bring your gold card period for more casual experience La Dijonnaise is next door. It’s got an extensive menu of French dishes like beef bourguignon one of my favs and while we haven’t tried it yet this one is definitely on the list.

Helms Lukshon La DijonnaiseThere’s a lot more to experience and discover and Culver City and the AKFF Team will be writing more about it in a future post. Feel free to reply below to tell us about some of your Culver City hotspots.
