1st Friday | First Fridays is Back!

@AbbotKinney1st: Food Trucks in Los Angeles – serving up #FirstFridays #1st Friday #1st Fridays

Abbot Kinney First Friday is back as of April 2022 after a long absence during Covid.  5-9pm on Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice, CA.

Yes, First Fridays is finally back on Abbot Kinney Boulevard  in Venice. You can enjoy about 20 food trucks that will be on the infamous Boulevard along with shopping.

If you’re wondering why it’s been such a long time since I’ve posted I’ll tell you why. First during covid the event was largely canceled there we did support it with  by using our Virtual First Fridays to make people aware of food trucks that were operating on Fridays.  Next as an independent blogger,  my blog does not derive income from the food trucks or scheduling them. I just want to be clear about that.

I started this blog in 2008, yes that was a while ago and it was created to help the businesses on Abbot Kinney after First Fridays started To attract more people to the event. Let’s face it it was just a handful of people and this blog help Skyrocket the event even before the row food trucks which happened in 2009.

Some of the merchants that benefitted from people coming to their businesses plus the merchants association that ended up scheduling the food trucks (a few years later) also gain income from this though never a thank you and actually complained that this blog bought them what they wanted more people in attendance at the event.

I got the blog going because people loved First Fridays and wanted to know more about it. it takes a lot of time and energy to do this on a regular basis and I’ve written a lot of articles about First Fridays and other food truck events in the area. You can find out about it by browsing the blog.  You can also find out about all the choice food truck events in the Los Angeles area in my food truck guide ebook that you can keep on your phone in your tablet.

If you’d like more articles on a more frequent basis you can help by donating to my blog. Thanks in advance for showing your appreciation.

Abbot Kinney First Fridays is canceled as a result of Covid-19, however, there’s something new and inclusive in support of food truck businesses and hungry Angelenos looking for some good grub!

Here’s what I came up with:   I posted on socal media asking food trucks  best way to order food from themand am listing those that responded. While it’s a small list to start with I hope to grow it each month and that depends entirely on YOU!

Venice Food Trucks First Friday 2020

Venice Food Trucks First Friday 2020

Abbot Kinney First Fridays Canceled in May Due to Covid-19

Abbot Kinney First Fridays is the premiere food truck event that takes place on every First Friday of the month in Venice with an endless stream of food trucks. But wait! Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, it’s been cancelled for May after it was cancelled in April, due to legit Covid-19 health concerns.

The food options for now are food to go at restaurants and bars and also includes drinks, as in alcoholic beverages to go in some establishments in Los Angeles.  There was a banner outside the El Torito restaurant in Santa Monica with  something like, “Margaritas to Go” which sounded pretty tempting to us.  (It was a little early in the day for that…)

You might be wondering where are some good spots to go? There are so many restaurants in Venice, Santa Monica and Marina del rey alone it wouldn’t be fair only to list a few.   Abbot Kinney First Fridays wants to know- what restaurants have you ordered food from recently?

Venice Farmers Market Update

The Venice Farmers Market is open it’s regular hours on Friday from  7 – 11am on 500 Venice Bl. It’s in the center median near the library. If you’re looking for fresh fruits and vegetables, make sure to check it out.

Santa Monica Farmers Market Update & Food Delivery

The Santa Monica Farmers Market is now consolidated to two days of the week in Downtown Santa Monica on Wednesday and Saturday, 8am to 1pm. Both are located at 2nd and Arizona, near the Third Street Promenade.

More food resources, courtesy of the City of Santa Monica, include: restaurants, farmers markets, free food, student meals, grocery stores, food delivery services for relief from Covid 19.

Supporting Local Businesses!

Yes, this blog is created and edited by a local entrepreneur, Janet Gervers from Jagmedia (yours truly). The Abbot Kinney First Fridays blog started in 2008 to help support the local businesses on Abboit Kinney and in Venice, when only a handful (for realz) of people attended – and this blog skyrocketed it to fame!

Thing is, this blog does NOT derive any income from First Fridays or any food truck events, however, there’s a delicious food truck guide, that you can support and gain valuable deets on  regular food truck events you can count on every month!

While things are shut down, it’s only a matter of time before they start up again – and this is where my digital guide comes in.

Have you ever wanted to find out things like:

  • Who comes to this food truck event? Students, families, is it kid friendly?
  •  What about the parking? Is it street, valet, or is it best to skateboard or Uber it?
  •  What’s the atmosphere like? Is it crowded, chill or???

There’s a whole lot more! Start planning your food truck journey before all the events start up again- and use this digital guide to find your way! For Mobile and desktop available on Amazon, for $9.99.
