Let’s get this month started with a party! Turn it up on Abbot Kinney Bl in Venice, Ca tonight! Eat, Shop Play!!! Food Truck FAQ Below!

Whatever you decide to call it – this is  it and this is the OFFICIAL BLOG OF FIRST FRIDAYS!First Fridays – 1st Fridays – Abbot Kinney First Fridays – Abbot Kinney 1st Fridays!

ABOUT FIRST FRIDAYS:
The Abbot Kinney First Fridays Blog was started in 2008 (for real!) when a handful of people (about 30 – for real!!!) showed up to the event, which was namely local shops staying open late with special sales. The AKFF Blog was started to spread awareness and crushed it – with thousands coming in a year and are still going strong! While it changed to  a food truck event (food truck faq below), there are still special events and  we’ll tell you about it.

EAT:
At one of the many restaurants and enjoy happy hours too-  The AKFF recommends Hal’s Bar & Grill for happy hour and delish eats. For casual healthy and tasty, try Lemonade or Kreation Organic. Of course there are about 50+ food trucks on the boulevard with lotsa options for eating too. See our Twitter feed for food trucks on  the hottest boulevard in America: @AbbotKinney1st

SHOP:
There are many cute boutiques on the boulevard that are open; typically between 6-8. Arrive early to fins parking and check out some new styles. Amazon will have a truck out on Abbot Kinney showcasing their products.

PLAY:

You’re here to have fun, right? Head on over to Electric Lodge at 1416 Electric Av. (parallel to Abbot Kinney- just turn at California at the light and turn right on Electric  and walk about 300 feet on left) for HIgh Voltage, FREE special multimedia performance at 9pm followed by DJ Romy Ancona at 10pm for Spark After Dark at the solar powered building. Just look for the angel statue in front close to the entrance.

LOCAL BIZ SHOUT OUT: TURNING POINT PILATES
You’ll be jumping for joy too after you get fit at Turning Point Pilates in Venice, close to Abbot Kinney Boulevard, across from Lemonade in the business complex.

Turning Point Pilates, a Classical Pilates Studio in business for 7 years offers private and group classes, led by Founder Robin Solo. She treats you as an individual and makes sure to find out what existing health conditions you may have, say a knee injury for instance, and  tailors your fitness workout accordingly.

How can we tell you for sure? The Editor of the AKFF Blog  took a private lesson with Robin, who took great care in accommodating her injuries for a great workout. Check it out before you go to 1st Fridays and talk to Robin or one of the experienced instructors there!

FOOD TRUCK FAQ:
Want some eats? See the AKFF Twitter feed, @AbbotKinney1st  to see what trucks are there.

Typically there are 50 trucks  on the boulevard, so there’s a lot to choose from: gluten free, vegan, desserts and everything else inbetween. Hey, while you’re at it, please throw your trash in the container – if the food truck you purchased from does not have one, ask them to  put a trash bag out or to take your trash.

DO YOU OWN A FOOD TRUCK?
First things first- get your permits from the City of Los Angeles – Venice is part of LA and goes by those rules. The AKFF Blog covers the event, we don’t do permits. Bring  a trash container and haul your trash when you leave. Do you want a shoutout on our Page 1 Blog? If so, email the AKFF Editor for our new Food Truck Shout Out program today!
